Historic Landmark Sign Program
The Walpole Historical Society has researched and placed many historic signs at landmarks around Walpole. This is an on-going project; we try to do a few every year depending upon funding and interest.
Historic House Sign Program
Any Walpole resident with an old home or building (typically 100 years old or more) may apply to have a date sign or name and date sign. A member of the historical society will research the most likely date and first occupants and the resident chooses what to put on the sign with advice from the historical society. This program partially funds the Historic Landmark Sign program. A House Sign Application is available to Walpole residents.
Scholarship Program
The Walpole Historical Society offers $1000 annually to students pursuing higher education in several aspects of history.
Collection Archiving
With an extensive collection of documents, photographs and artifacts, the process of organizing and preserving materials is done by the Curator, and Society volunteers.
Acquisitions
The Walpole Historical Society continues to add interesting items to its permanent collection through dealers, auction houses, collectors, and donators.
Digital Preservation
The Walpole Historical Society partners with Walpole Public Library and more recently, Boston Public Libraries Statewide Digitization Program to digitize some of our print materials. Thanks to both partners, our valuable collections are accessible online at Internet Archive and Walpole Public Library.
